Case Study 2: Associate Rail Director, Australia
Client Overview:
One of the world’s largest multidisciplinary engineering consultancies providing professional,
technical and management support services to a broad range of markets, including transportation,
facilities, environmental, energy, water and government.
The Vacancy:
An Associate Director Rail with a proven track record of delivering multi disciplinary rail schemes,
with a project values in excess of £100m.
Brief / Search:
Our client had been looking for suitable candidates for a period of time and had concluded that a
candidate with the necessary skills and experience was unlikely to be found in the country. The
nature of the role demanded that the successful candidate not only had extensive technical delivery
experience but also excellent written and verbal communication skills and be fluent in English both
written and spoken.
Solution:
Utilising our knowledge of the rail sector and our global network of candidates a small list of suitable
candidates were identified who had both the necessary technical experience and client facing skills.
As these potential candidates were not actively pursuing a new role, we presented the benefits
associated with the position including: the nature of projects, the company’s growth plans and the
quality of life to be enjoyed in the geographical location.
Candidates were targeted in America, Canada, India and the United Kingdom with a shortlist of 5
suitable candidates being presented for consideration to the client.
Candidate /Client Management:
We coordinated all correspondence and meetings between the client and the candidates including
video conference calls. We provided independent information to candidates on relevant tax
advantages associated with relocating to Australia, together with knowledge about the location of
the role. Guidance was also provided on the visa process.
To minimise problems with the candidate relocating to Australia and to ensure a successful
placement, the client was informed throughout the process of candidate expectations in relocating.
