The Client & Role:
Our client is located in a stunning part of the world, Thurso, in the county of Caithness, Northern Scotland.
Well known for its outstanding natural beauty and unique way of life, relocating to this area will perfectly suit people with a love of the outdoors and a more relaxed place of life.
This is also a safe environment to raise a family (schools here have a very low Pupil-Teacher Ratio), a tight-knit community and a very low crime rate.
There are many opportunities for traditional sports such as athletics, gymnastics, football, rugby and many other indoor and outdoor activities.
Thurso is also an excellent location for water sports, including kayaking, SCUBA diving, sailing and surfing (major international surfing competitions are held here).
In particular, the client is also offering a generous relocation allowance, as well as other company benefits.

The client is looking for two engineers who will be responsible the development of electronic systems for the management, protection and charging of batteries in the Wh to MWh range.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to all phases of the product lifecycle from initial concept through design, development and verification as well as obsolescence management and through-life support.

Duties will involve:
As a Electronics Design Engineer specialising in power electronics, batteries/cells and chargers you will be responsible for;
DFx (manufacturability, test, cost etc)
Design documentation
Related electronic design (serial comms and standard bus protocols, microcontroller system design etc)
Reliability engineering (FMECA, MTBF calculation etc).

The Candidate:
You will have a minimum 4 years professional experience of the full lifecycle of electronic product development.
Further you’ll possess a proven ability to work in small multi-functional project team (including mechanical, software and qualification engineers), experience of the full lifecycle of electronic product development, and an honours degree in a relevant engineering subject (master’s degree preferred). Also;
Strong analogue power electronic design skills
Experience of battery management systems, Lithium Ion cell management, switched mode power supply design
Circuit simulation and analysis
Design for EMC (CE, MIL-STD 461, DEF-STAN 59-411 etc).
