The Role:
Due to the current political situation, HM Government are exploring in-depth the option of developing a homegrown Global Navigation Satellite System, to be made available to UK national interests in the event that use of GPS and Galileo no longer proves feasible politically.
The UK GNSS programme identified a number of segments within the overall technical solution and high-level system architecture design. One of the segments identified from that work was the Ground Control Segment (GCS).
This role is the lead technical for the Ground Control Segment (GCS), reporting to the Chief System Engineer or Technical Director (TBD), and is expected to the be a point of contact for all technical matters on the ground segment.

Duties will involve:
The purpose is to ensure that the Ground Segment activities are delivered and that the Ground Segment architecture is sufficiently advanced to enable industry to bid for construction in a follow-on Implementation Phase.

The Candidate: 
Due to the sensitivity of this project, candidates MUST have at least active SC clearance, and be willing to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) checks.
In addition, you will possess;
·Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree or equivalent is required in Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical, Communications Engineering (technical), Physics, or similar.
·Sound knowledge of GNSS theory and practice
·5+ years of demonstrated engineering experience within space, ground, operations or sustainment segments of a space programme. Knowledge of ECSS. Must have experience of ground segment development in a space programme
·Experience, knowledge and understanding of the Enterprise Architect and DOORS tools.
