Project Engineer: Environmental and Sustainability (Ships) - 6 Months Contract - Bristol - c£390/day

The Role:
Working within a team, the purpose of this post is to act as the MoD safety and environmental lead for the design and build of the Type 26 Frigate involving: 
The implementation, management and governance of a safety and environmental management system. 
Duties will include: Interpreting and applying MOD Policy. Developing an understanding of, and ability to interpret, health and safety and environmental legislation as it applies to your project(s) 
Ensuring safety and environmental management systems exist, supervising those systems and demonstrating that those systems are compliant with policy and TLB instructions, are appropriate, and functioning correctly. 
Appling the principles and techniques of system safety risk assessment and/or environmental impact analysis, interpreting the results and providing informed advice to senior managers and stakeholders. 
Commissioning, managing and controlling work to develop safety and/or environmental cases, setting safety and/or environmental requirements in specifications. 
Managing/chairing Safety Panels as delegated by Project Team Leader/Duty Holder 
As Project Engineer: you will provide support/leadership in the development of the technical solution to meet the customer capability needs. 
You will work to ensure that the solution is successfully integrated into the project; managing and minimising negative impacts. 
You will apply engineering best practice and ensure that all stakeholders are effectively managed throughout the engineering activities. 

The Candidate:
You will have experience of working in an Environmental and Sustainability role and have a minimum of 2 yrs engineering experience.
You will have exp of change/continuous improvement 
An awareness of the following would be advantageous:-
ME1.5 - Maritime Engineering - Maritime Safety and Environmental Knowledge would be useful. 
System Safety Functional Competence SysSaf 2
