Project Manager (Highways / Transportation); c2 year Contract; Rate £Negotiable; Chatham, Kent

The Role:
Project Manager to be responsible for the management and delivery of major transport capital projects including highways and highway junction improvement schemes, new CCTV traffic management and cyclist and pedestrian schemes.  

Duties will include:
Responsibility for the delivery of a programme of major transport capital projects;  
Full project management, including overseeing the production of progress reports to established member groups and key stakeholders;
Assessment and taking account of known risks, including maintaining a comprehensive risk register being able to adapt to programme and project changes and problems;
Managing and overseeing engagement with key stakeholder groups;
You will be the accountable manager for high value budgets associated with the projects including providing regular accurate budget monitoring reports and ensuring the project is delivered within budget. 
Delivery of the right outputs, to the required level of quality and within the specified constraints of time, cost, resources and risk;
Managing and controlling changes to project scope and requirements;
Monitoring and reporting progress against plans, quality and costs, and business case deliverables;
Represent the client on the Transport Working Group that advises the South East Local Enterprise Partnership on technical transportation issues;
Provide service input to the Category Management Team with regard to any procurement processes required during the delivery of the projects; 
Oversee management and monitoring of project contractors to ensure a quality service delivery is provided throughout;
Ensuring that all project work streams are suitable synchronised to ensure successful project delivery to the required timescale;
Support officers in preparing future business cases for new Local Growth Fund project funding, or renewing previous business cases as may be necessary.

The Candidate: 
You will be an experienced Project Manager with a track record on being responsible for successfully delivering project outcomes both to budget and to timetable. 
You will have extensive experience of operating at a high level with transport professionals or on transport related projects. 
You will have extensive experience of a broad range of transportation and planning activities including transport planning at local and regional level, managing a programme of evolving projects, major scheme development, overseeing civil engineering design and construction, and contract management.  
You will have extensive experience of working in partnership with a broad range of influential stakeholders, including senior stakeholders such as elected members, to deliver shared objectives.  
You will be eduacted to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject and/or have relevant demonstrable experience.  
You will ideally hold a Project Management Qualification i.e. APMP; and be a member of a professional Institution i.e. Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers or equivalent
A management qualification - DMS or equivalent qualification is also desirable.
