Wilde Recruitment Ltd are working along side Balfour Beatty in order to recruit a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work on a LONG term contract in Warrington. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer your role will involve:
The Box Encapsulation Plant project is one of the most important construction projects at the Sellafield Site, the plant will play a vital role in Sellafield’s 100-year clean-up programme by taking nuclear waste recovered from the sites original wasteplants and encasing it in concrete so it can be stored in a modern building. The plant is primarily designed to deal with waste from the Magnox Swarf Storage Silo, one of four legacy waste plants prioritised for clean-up by Sellafield Ltd’s owner, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). Alongside that work, the plant will also receive certain wastes from the other three legacy waste stores, the First Generation Magnox Storage Pond, the Pile Fuel Storage Pond, and Pile Fuel Cladding Silo.

The BEP Joint Venture project will safely design and deliver a Plant and the works in accordance with the requirements of the contract to enable conditioning of wastes from the various donor plants, carried out in line with the Employer’s needs and to the satisfaction of stakeholders in the Box Encapsulation Project (BEP).
Senior Mechanical Engineer – Reporting to Lead Mechanical Engineer. Responsible for overseeing the design of package equipment, which will include liaison with third party company who in some instances will have design and manufacture responsibilities. Production of engineering deliverables and the checking of work undertaken by others.
Nuclear experience in a senior mechanical engineer role.
Minimum 10 years mechanical experience.
Ability to demonstrate strong competence in delivery of detail design under own supervision reporting to the Lead Mechanical Engineer.
Support Area Lead Engineer in mechanical delivery and vendor support to packages of work, liaise with the Construction and Commissioning teams to ensure correct installation and set to work.
A working knowledge of SL standards and procedures.
Input to risk assessments and OIMS.
Ability to perform mechanical design calculations, produce technical specifications and requisitions, datasheets, perform technical bid evaluations.
Checking of design documentation
HNC minimum.
The ability to obtain BPSS is essential for continuance in the role. SC preferred but can be obtained once appointed if required BPSS essential
