The Client:
The client is an award winning civil, structural, rail and transportation consultancy formed in 1980. They are one of the largest independently owned consultancies in the UK.
The company has been highly successful in work winning and are currently on 14 frameworks for work within Structures providing a steady work flow of interesting projects.
As part of the Companies succession planning the company is seeking to appoint a Senior/Principal Engineer to develop into a role where ultimately you will be running the structural team in Manchester and hold the title of Director.
This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in a variety of projects and to also develop and diversify into other areas that you feel capable of growing.
The Role:
We have an opportunity to join award winning civil, structural, rail and transportation consultancy. They are one of the largest independently owned consultancies in the UK and are seeking to appoint a Senior/Principal Structural Engineer looking to fast-track their career into a Director role, working on varied and challenging building and structures projects for public and private sector clients.
Duties may include:
the preparation of feasibility studies, design calculations (a working knowledge of current relevant design codes and standards is essential), carrying out structural inspections and assessments, agreeing fees, acting as project director for appropriate sized projects, preparation of contract documents and specifications and supervision of contractors.
The role will also include managing client relationships.
Specific objectives include: -
• To provide high level technical services.
• To provide support, training and guidance to other staff.
• To develop and retain specialist knowledge
• Managing graduates/junior members of staff
The Candidate:
Experience of working in a building structures design consultancy office is essential, typically with at least 5 years practical design experience.
Reporting to the structures director; the Senior/Principal Engineer role requires a ‘hands on’ approach and the ability to apply professional engineering knowledge to deliver projects in all modern design materials.
