6 month contract opportunity for an Urban Designer to facilitate the integration of urban design and public realm objectives for the strategic Transport Directorate

The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Urban Designer/Planner working within the Strategic Transport Directorate and working closely with the Development & Innovation Team.
Responsible for leading the development and delivery of the next generation of way-finding solutions to assist in transforming the quality, safety and security of the pedestrian environment.
The focus will be on developing the way-finding and signage initiative but other components will be included later to assist the Head of Development and Innovation in developing and driving forward the urban design agenda within the transport projects development stages, to balance technical requirements with good quality design.

The Candidate:
As an Urban Designer/Planner you will have demonstrable experience on all matters relating to public realm and urban design. A proven track record in the development of Urban Design or Master planning projects is needed. You will also have experience of working with city/district authorities.  You will be good at working across an organization and have experience of transforming concepts and strategies into clear delivery programmes. You will have the ability to challenge the business to constantly bring fresh stimulus & ideas and ways of working from internal colleagues, external industry and stakeholders. 
You must have a Degree in Urban Design, Urban Planning or Architecture.
Experience or familiarisation with the transport sector a must
Effective project management and visual communication skills will be an advantage
Excellent design, and visualization skills
Must be able to demonstrate rigorous thinking, good judgment and clear understanding of how added value is created for the organisation
