An analysis of the UK government’s construction pipeline by accountants KPMG has revealed that 28% of projects in the pipeline had worryingly disappeared since December 2014.
The construction Enquirer (Grant Prior); Mon 21st September has reported that “ Accountant KPMG has blasted the accuracy of the UK Government’s construction pipeline after 886 projects disappeared during the last year”.
It seems that most of the decrease comes in transport where £6.7bn of schemes are now missing and housing and regeneration schemes have seen a £2.8bn drop.
The firm has said “KPMG understands that the remarkable decrease in the number of projects is largely due to potential projects being removed from the pipeline to avoid pre-empting decisions in the forthcoming Spending Review”.
