This key programme manages improvements to the housing provided to service personnel (over 50,000 residences), and has an annual budget approaching £100m. Duties will involve: The successful Quantity Surveyor will be reviewing & agreeing tender proposals as required to meet the programme, providing cost estimate and cost advice as required, and reviewing contract amendments and variations, milestone completions, and associated financial reporting/accounting. The Candidate: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or similar. OR The ability to demonstrate significant recent Quantity Surveying/Cost Management type experience. Duties to include: Work to Client brief in designing appropriate highway schemes based on current design guidance and legislation. Communicate with residents, businesses and others in advance and during construction of works, answer enquiries and assist in resolving complaints. Manage and maintain the production of all project documentation, highlight reports, lesson learnt reports, risk logs, finance and key milestone monitoring reports and project closure reports. Work within and assist in the delivery of work packages within Project Management constraints of time, quality and cost standards so that business objectives are achieved. You will be responsible for the review of design and design drawings, supervising scheme drawings, preparation of contract documents and specifications and supervision of contractors. The Candidate: You will be qualified to Degree/HND level and ideally be a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with Highway Design experience including aspects of drainage design S38 and S278, kerbing, road & footway surfacing and construction phasing. A working knowledge of the current highway design standards/codes is essential. Experience of contract management and site experience desirable. Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy’s new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme including Astute and Dreadnought class. The Role: As the you will be responsible for the development and delivery of phased Nuclear Safety Cases to meet an agreed set of User, DA, Licensee and other business requirements. Key duties will include: Delivery of Facility Staged Nuclear Safety Cases. Contribute to development and implementation of Nuclear Safety Processes & Standards. Nuclear Safety Requirements Development & Management. Support ONR & EA interface. Work with other Safety Managers, Chief Engineer function and Site Safety Technical Authority.
