On the 31st August 2015; The Chancellor, George Osborne, announced, on BBC Radio Scotland; more than £500m of contracts for the Royal Navy's submarine base at Faslane.

It is estimated that the work which is due to begin in 2017;will secure 6,700 jobs and create thousands more.

Mr Osborne told BBC Radio Scotland that the inveistment was a "massive boost for Scotland and the UK's defence".

The annoucncment is a boost to the engineering consultant Jacobs; which last year picked up the contract to provide project management and consultancy services at Faslane.
