Demand for Engineers continues to soften in September!

The Report on Jobs survey by Markit; for September, reported that growth in demand for staff in the Engineering sector continued to soften.

The employment index revealed that demand for engineers had continued to ease from a high in July; when engineers topped the rankings in demand.

Demand for permanent engineers slipped again in the index rankings from top spot in July down to seventh in September.

Demand for contract engineers also softened whilst improving against other areas of employment rising from seventh in August to third place in September.

For Engineers key points of interest in the September report were:
The slowest rise in permanent hires, for two and a half years.

Demand for both permanent and contract engineers continues to rise but at a slower rate.

Engineers in the Automotive and Rail sectors continued to be most in demand with the report also reporting an increase for both Structural and Traffic Engineers.
