December Chills Hiring

The jobs survey by Markit has reported that demand for both permanent and contract staff in the Engineering and Construction sectors eased in December.

The Engineering sector fell from top spot to sixth in the table for permanent hires with the construction sector bottom of the table.

On the contract hiring the engineering sector was sixth with construction Contracting hires at the bottom of the table for the third month running.

Commenting on the latest survey results for all the sectors, REC Chief Executive Kevin Green is reported as saying;

 “The jobs market continues to beat expectations as we begin the New Year. More people are finding jobs each month, and demand for staff is growing. We’ve seen two months of growth in London, which is particularly encouraging following a difficult period between the EU referendum and October.”
