Building Control Manager - Manchester - £60/hr umb - Duration 6 months

Over view:
Wilde Recruitment Ltd are working along side MCC in order to recruit a Building Control Manager to work on a 6month contract in Manchester.
As a Building Control Manager your duties and responsibilities will include:
The role of the Building Control Section Manager is responsible for all aspects of the building regulations function, including dangerous and dilapidated structures and safety at sports grounds certificates. With the emerging fire safety legislation changes, the post holder will be the lead authority in supporting the Council. 
 
 You will also lead in change and financial management within the section. The role is central to developing effective working relationships with major stakeholders including members and in ensuring the service is fully integrated to the workings of the Council.
 
 You must be highly skilled and motivated, understand the dynamics of a major City and the opportunities and challenges this presents in delivering a highly performing building control service.
 
 Being outcome focused you will need to demonstrate you have the necessary qualities – innovation, hard work and enterprise together with a thorough knowledge and background of building control in a local authority. If you share Manchester’s clear ambitions to delivering the highest quality development.
 
Managerial experience leading a busy BC team, significant experience and qualified (Building Surveyor) and member of appropriate professional body.
 
Understands the workings of a large urban local authority
Make arrangements for performance reports to be available and shared with the teams.
Assist with the work allocations aligning with the performance reports.
Develop systems and assign appropriate resources to deal with general and FOI/EIR enquiries.
Develop systems for the efficient production of building control reports required by local and central government from time to time.
Liaise with other Building Control managers and the LABC organisation to develop a strategy for the future structure of BC to meet the requirements of the building safety regulator.
Provide procedural guidance on new legislation/guidance and policy.
Assist in reviewing the administration support for BC such that it meets the demands of the service now and moving into the new regime under the building safety regulator.
Review the current dangerous buildings call-out system.
Review/investigate incentives or enhancements available to BC that would assist in staff retention and recruitment.
Review and revise records and data storage within BC.
Development and design (including training programme) of a career graded post from Trainee to surveyor level.
