Building Surveyor

Security Cleared Building Surveyor; 6 Months+ Contract; c£275/day; UKWide Travel required 2 days per week

The Role:
To be a significant point of expertise and knowledge within the EFA on the delivery of condition and other educational estates data surveys and the development of technical aspects of advice on such matters to a fragmented education estate management community. 
Contribute to the development of policy, advice to stakeholders, the collation and reporting of good practice and where necessary benchmarking. 
Provide technical support and advice to the external organisations providing surveying and IT asset management software development services to the EFA. 
Contribute to the development and delivery of a long term and sustainable programme for the collection and maintenance of data on the condition of the whole education estate. 
Work across the Buildings and Asset Management Division and the wider EFA and DfE to provide timely and robust advice and support to senior colleagues on emerging issues as well as in the development of policy and advice to ministers. 
Location: Can be based at London, Darlington, Sheffield, Manchester, Nottingham or Coventry – travel will be required a couple of days a week between these offices.

The Candidate:
Experience of undertaking building/asset condition surveys.
Experience of using a variety of building surveying data collection tools. 
Experience of working with large condition data sets. 
Degree in a construction or asset management related subject. 
Full membership of a relevant professional body. Where a candidate can demonstrate equivalent experience and knowledge or is working towards or close to membership then this will be considered.
Experience of developing and/or managing planned preventative maintenance schedules, lifecycle planning and preparing specifications of work. 
Experience of developing and/or delivering building surveying and condition and maintenance related projects from inception through to completion using project management systems and techniques
