CDM Coordinator: 12-18 Months Contract; Warrington; Rate c£45.0/ hour Ltd

The Project/ Role:
Our client, Balfour Beatty, is part of the Box Encapsulation Plant (BEP) Delivery Team, an unincorporated joint-venture of Wood Group, Jacobs and Balfour Beatty.
The framework contract for the project is being delivered as an integral part of the Magnox Swarf Storage Silo (MSSS) programme for Sellafield Ltd; tackling the clean-up of one of the most hazardous legacy facilities on the Sellafield site.
When complete, BEP will deliver the capability to treat nuclear waste recovered from MSSS, immobilise it and prepare it for storage. In addition, the BEP may also process waste recovered during the decommissioning of other Sellafield facilities including the First-Generation Magnox Storage Pond (FGMSP) and the Pile Fuel Storage Pond (PFSP).

Duties will involve:
The successful CDM Coordinator will be responsible for all CDM activities within the project’s engineering function, whilst ensuring that the Designer’s obligations under CDM 2015 are met. This includes:
·Assessment of the competency of Designer’s organisations and personnel on the project, which shall include subcontractor organisations.
·Identify and support the application of any health and safety legislation.
·Liaise with project functions to ensure information is exchanged and responsibilities understood.
·Ensure adequate pre-construction Information is provided and shared with sub-contractors.
·Support the Engineering delivery teams in providing sufficient information to the Construction team, and vice versa.
·Support the delivery teams in their CDM duties and in the provision of the required information, to ensure the design delivery teams provide a legal, technically acceptable and consistent design that meets the requirements of CDM 2015.
·Acting as the technical authority for CDM in the event of discrepancies, inconsistencies and conflict in the technical definition and delivery; so that design solutions are fit for purpose, integrated and satisfy the requirements of CDM.
·Liaison with the client (the Principal Designer) to support the engineering delivery team.

The Candidate: 
You will be an experienced engineer, ideally holding chartered status and with significant experience in engineering management (preferably with a health and safety background).
Nuclear sector experience will be highly beneficial.
Additionally, you’ll be well versed in CDM 2015 and you MUST be eligible for BPSS clearance.
