The Role:
Our client Babcock is looking to recruit for a senior position based at Plymouth as Chief Technical Engineer. 
This role is within the Marine Sector of Babcock International Group. The Marine Sector delivers a wide array of complex through-life marine engineering services. 
As part of the Strategic Infrastructure Design Authority, the primary purpose of the Chief Engineer Post is provision of Technical Assurance of Strategic Infrastructure Design & Safety Outputs to SI Head of Engineering via application of the Technical Governance process and leadership of specific technical issues as tasked by Head of Engineering. 
This role involves:
Technical Governance of SI Design & Safety Outputs for Technical Class 1 Projects. 
Define and contribute to development of Design & Nuclear Safety Processes & Standards. 
Assure compliance with Design & Nuclear Safety Processes. 
Assure compliance with Technical & Design Standards. 
Provision of independent technical support and advice to Head Eng. 
Technical oversight of requirements / assumptions management. 
Develop and Plan Technical Governance. 
Establish Policy, Arrangements and Capability for Design House Technical Governance. 
Seismic Working Group Chair. 
With Head Nuclear Safety, provide SQEP capability re NSRP Safety Issues; with Head Design, provide SQEP capability for Conventional HS&E Design Requirements. 
Support SI Interface with ONR. 
Work with Head Nuclear Safety, Head Design, and Project Design & Safety Managers. 
CE Function Resource Management. 
Authority for Approval of Design / DoC Signatory Principal interface with Head of Site TA. 

The Candidate:
You will be an experienced Technical Engineer.
You should be qualified to BEng / CEng / Degree level.
You will have excellent communication skills both written and oral.
