The Plant Facing Design Office (PFDO) is the organisation within SL that provides professional engineering support to the Plant Engineering community.

The PFDO have a requirement for a Senior Mechanical Designer/Mechanical Designer to provide a design service within an experienced Task Delivery Design Team, supporting and assisting with the implementation and delivery of safe, legally compliant, pragmatic fit for purpose mechanical engineering design solutions that meet functional and business requirements across a number of portfolios.
To perform the role of Mechanical Designer as directed and supervised by the Lead Mechanical & Responsible Engineer, providing a design service to the Task Delivery team supporting a number of portfolios across the business.
The work is diverse, no problem is ever the same, and every project offers a wide variety of technical challenges.

We are dealing with uncertainties, challenging technical problems, whilst operating within a complex and highly regulated environment. If you have a love for engineering, innovation and design, then this is the role for you.
Task Delivery provide scheduled design support to reduce operating hazards in the operational plants on site.

The role will involve delivering engineering design packages to meet problem definitions from the plant owners.

The tasks are scheduled each financial year and prioritised in order of risk, there is potential for a small amount of emergent higher priority work to be carried out within the team should a breakdown occur which is out of the scope of other design delivery routes.
