Design Manager: multi-disciplinary design management role.  Bristol or Cardiff

The Role:
As Design Manager, you will be responsible; for managing the delivery of project-related design tasks.
You will provide technical and managerial support into assigned projects, taking responsibility for the successful delivery of multi-disciplinary designs within a rail environment.
You will act as a technical lead at meetings and reviews with clients and their stakeholders.

Responsibilities will include:
Performing required activities associated with projects (investigation, analysis and design) in line with clients and in-house specifications, Network Rail standards and rail codes of practice
Managing design teams in the UK and off shore ensuring that all documentation is current, accurate and in compliance.
Review tender documentation and produce tender design deliverables, programme, required resources, and costs in line with our bid process
Maintaining ongoing communication with relevant Project Leaders/Team Leaders and clients to ensure effective communications on matters relevant to the project
Contributing to the resolution of technical issues on projects and providing technical guidance to other team members
Reviewing completed engineering work to ensure accuracy
Developing innovative and entrepreneurial thinking and behaviour
Building a profile in the industry and keeping up-to-date with innovations and developments
Being familiar with, and compliant with, relevant H & S regulations and to promote a culture of awareness within the team

The Client:
A leading consultancy, in the delivery of: design, consultancy, engineering and project management services.
The railway sector is a core sector with the rail team having an impressive list of project awards and recent successes have seen them secure a number of high profile, complex and stimulating projects both in the UK and internationally. New schemes are diverse and technically complicated and include the design of new build station’s and regeneration projects, trackside OLE / electrification and power upgrades, MEP within station buildings, new track beds, drainage and P-Way, signalling design, civil structures and bridges spread across the UK, Middle East and Europe.

The Candidate:
You will be a Chartered Engineer; degree qualified in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Your experience will should include the following: 
You will have at least 7 years rail experience in an engineering design role, of which at least 1 year of which should be in a multi-disciplinary design management capacity
You will have a thorough working knowledge of Network Rail
