Overview:
Wilde Recruitment Ltd are working along side BBEIS / STFC in order to recruit an Electrical CAD / Engineer to work on a 12 month contract at Didcot.
As an Electrical CAD Engineer your duties and responsibilities will include:
As a result of its commitment to science and technology, The Central Laser Facility (CLF) is building a new multimillion national facility- The Extreme Photonics Applications Centre (EPAC) - to support UK science, technology, innovation and industry. EPAC will bring together world-leading interdisciplinary expertise to produce scientific breakthroughs and stimulate new solutions to challenging problems to help advance UK Science and Technology, using its unique laser driven technology and in collaboration with industry, academia and the UK Research and Innovation Council (UKRI).

The Central Laser Facility (CLF) is looking to strengthen its Electrical and Control Engineering team. You will help design, develop, commission and support the electrical control systems required to carry out the science programme, including EPAC. Some of the work carried out by the team include vacuum and gas control, laser safety interlocks, and high precision motion control and laser alignment systems.

Responsibilities will include:
Identify user requirements and translate them into working solutions.
Produce specifications documents and ensure they are documented and maintained.
Create detailed CAD electrical schematics, P&ID’s, panel layout diagrams, wiring plans and BOM.
Ensuring commissioning of systems meets the requirements and specifications criteria of the project.
Evaluating the best technical setup for the future of the facility.
Collaborating with mechanical designers, control engineers, software engineers and scientist to build new systems.
Getting involved in the prototype of bespoke developments, from design to final validation.
Designing, developing, and commissioning of electrical control systems based on user’s requirements.
Supporting electrical problem-solving during manufacturing build process and commissioning process.
Working with suppliers delivering components or systems to a project.

Experience using Auto CAD Electrical to design panels and electrical schematics in low voltage and extra low voltage systems.
Experience interfacing with customers.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Able to perform calculations and analysis related associated with electrical engineering.
Understanding and application of BS7671 and Electrical Safety.
Proven experience in the development of systems from customers’ requirements to commissioning.
