Mechanical Engineer (Weapons Handling) - Long Term Contract - Bristol

The Role: 
We are currently seeking a number of Mechanical Engineers and Senior Engineers to join the team engaged on the development, design and production of Weapons Handling and Weapons Launch Systems for the new Successor Class Submarine;
a. to assist with the design definition of Weapons Handling Systems
b. to Assist in the generation of Production Story Boards

Duties will include: 
Defining a clear communication channel for design and production to exchange and document information.
Work with design and production to define how the WHS drawing suite will look. What assemblies and subassemblies will be generated as drawings, and what level will critical path components be defined to in the drawing suite.
Provide regular progress updates to a defined set of stakeholders within the design and production teams.
Work with the weapon handling and production planners, and the project managers to assist in PD planning activities.
Work with the Successor systems team to understand the delivery strategy of weapon handling equipment to the customer to inform the drawing suite design.
Be cognisant of the WHS testing regime and work with the other WHS systems engineer to ensure the drawing suite is sympathetic to the testing process as well as the manufacturing process.
Help production engineers identify any special tooling and test rigs required for manufacture.

Key Deliverables to include:
Generation of production story boards to aid in production planning and assist designers during design reviews.
Design the Successor WHS drawing suite and produce a family tree to assist in PO planning.

The Candidate: 
You will be qualified to degree/HNC in engineer/technical discipline and ideally have previous knowledge of Weapon Handling Systems. 
You will have experience of using Teamcenter PLM and NX
Experience of Math CAD
You will have a good knowledge and experience in the effective use of Engineering tools and techniques
Experience in designing for manufacture is highly desirable.
A good understanding and experience of engineering drawings, both how they are created and how they are structured.
Candidates must be eligible for SC Security Clearance
