Engineering Manager Naval/Offshore; 6mth contract - Barrow

The Role: 
Engineering Manager required with modular/skid mounted equipment experience for a long-term contract based at Barrow Cumbria working on projects for the new Astute class submarine. 
As engineering manager you will be responsible for all engineering aspects of a project. 
You will take engineering “ownership” of projects and direct them to an optimised engineering solution.   
                
Duties: 
You will advise Project Managers on engineering risk and development of plans to projects.
You will be responsible for implementing the design configuration and ensuring, via controlled and authorised change, that the design configuration is declared and maintained.
Develop design work scope and support the development of an agreed strategy and plan to deliver the engineering aspects of the project.
Guide and supervise the production of designs by sub-consultants.
Ensure that design reviews, optioneering workshops, value engineering workshops held in accordance with the set out strategy.
Review Facility Requirement Plans as design develops
Developing and executing effective design strategies and plans in line with the overall project strategies and plans.
Delivering integrated and robust engineering solutions, designs, specifications and instructions and documentation that meet the safety, legal, quality and technical requirements
Determine the presence of technical knowledge and capability gaps for the project and devise approaches targeted at closing them.
You will ensure that the Design Review Chairperson is agreed by the Engineering Authority.
Ensure the conduct of Design Reviews at appropriate points during the Lifecycle and at least once every 12 months since the last Design Review.
Utilise Discipline Engineers (CSA, Mechanical, CE&I, Process) to fulfil the Design Authority 

The Candidate:
You will be a Chartered Engineer with experience in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering and will have extensive experience of working in the Naval/Offshore sectors specifically on the engineering of complex skid mounted equipment packages.
You will hold current SC Clearance
