The Role:
The requirement is to support the Submarine Estimating Section at Devonport, although knowledge of Submarine systems would be beneficial, it is not critical, as we are looking for a skill set like Quantity Surveyors and people who are conversant with various Estimating Techniques and have the ability to build up an estimate for a variety of different engineering tasks and contracts. It would also be beneficial if they had experience of developing and creating a “Norms and Tariffs” data base that would eventually be used to support and justify estimates for future Submarine Projects.

Your duties will involve:
Submarine Business Unit Tenders 
The Production of multi – trade man hour estimate for labour. 
Interpret the work content of the clients specification, using knowledge and experience, BR’s, drawing etc.
Provide advice on work scope and estimating issues arising during the bidding phase.
Consult with production/commercial group in understanding the client’s specification, enabling a greater capture of Variation Orders in the bid.
Comparison with sub-contract quotation ensuring value for money.
Variation orders, discuss and agree any changes due to scope with the client (CAAS).
Provide support on reviewing cost control data with the finance department, production and Project managers in order to improve future estimates, capture Variation Orders and assist production when forecasting manning requirements.

The Candidate:
You will be an experienced Estimator
You should have experience of QS.
You should be qualified to at least ONC level.
Substantial relevant engineering experience, preferably time served apprentice
A good working technical knowledge of Submarine systems and processes &Excel Spreadsheets
You will need to be SECURITY CLEARED - SC LEVEL
