Overview:
Wilde Recruitment Ltd are working alongside Babcock Naval Marine in order to recruit a Senior Health Physicist to work initially for 6 months on a contract basis, based Plymouth PL2.

About the role:
For more than a century, Babcock, the Aerospace and Defence Company, has been trusted to deliver bespoke, highly-skilled engineering services. We help customers in the UK and around the world to improve the capability, reliability and availability of their most critical assets within the four market sectors of Marine, Land, Aviation, and Nuclear, underpinned by a deep understanding of technology integration, unique infrastructure and specialist training.
Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy’s new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme.
We're looking for a Senior Health Physicist (Environment) (Radiation Protection Technical Authority) to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We’re a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world.

As a Senior Health Physicist your duties and responsibilities will include:
Responsible for providing operations with specialist knowledge and support relating to nuclear and radiological safety. You will be expected to become the lead on a number of environmental radiation protection projects. You’ll ensure compliance with statutory legislation, including the Environmental Permitting Regulations, and the terms of the site licence; deliver nuclear safety cases and Best Available Technique assessments; develop and implement nuclear safety processes and standards and provide technical advice on nuclear safety assessment processes and policy. You’ll support both new-build infrastructure, as well as projects relating to the development of existing dockyard and naval base assets, thus helping us to create the naval base and dockyard of the future, supporting the Royal Navy’s current submarine fleets and ready to receive the next generation of naval platforms.

Candidate:
You will be an experienced Health Physicist.
You should be Degree qualified.
You should also have experience of;
Environmental Permitting and Radioactive Waste Management on Nuclear Licenced Sites.
Nuclear facility licensing and authorisation.
Provision of Radiation Protection advice within an operational environment.
Preparation of Radiation Protection documentation in the support of safety case submissions.
Generation and maintenance of radioactive waste assessments.
