The Role:
Recruitment are engaged with a local Design Consultancy in order to recruit a Highway Technician. This is a contract position outside scope of IR35 for an initial period of 12 months based in Oldham OL1.
Description of services required are as follows:
To assist in the planning, programming and monitoring of traffic strategy which includes policy, feasibility and development of options in relation to traffic, parking, public transport, and highway improvements and road safety.
To advise and assist where required, parties and stakeholders in the development of effective traffic measures.
To assist with the preparation of estimates, drawings, plans and programmes required for the development of schemes in accordance with the traffic strategy.
To assist in the undertake extensive and wide ranging consultation which frequently include public meetings and to ensure that the Department is provided with a positive and high profile both in the media and within the community.
To provide a customer focussed responsive service with regard to complaints and enquiries in accordance with corporate policy.
To assist when necessary on the transport implications of land use and to assist in the development monitoring and review of transport policy within Council Plans.
To assist with the representation of the interests of the Group on corporate and external groups relative to a wide range of issues and initiatives.
To liaise as necessary with other Divisions of the Department, other Departments of the Council and outside bodies and agencies, in order to ensure the efficient discharge of the duties and responsibilities of the Traffic and Transportation Group and the Division.

The Candidate:
You will be an experienced Highway Technician.
Ideally you will have local authority experience.
You should be qualified to at least HNC level.
