Highways Maintenance Engineer; 6mth plus Contract; Glasgow; Rate to £435.0/day (Umbrella)

The Role: 
A Senior Highways Maintenance Engineer required to act as Area Manager – (Highways Maintenance) within Transport Scotland’s, Highways Network Maintenance Team. 
Duties will include overseeing the operating company performance in managing the safe operation and maintenance of the trunk/highway’s road network. 

Duties may include: 
·Programme management and contract compliance of the annual routine and cyclic maintenance programme.
·Undertaking the technical review and challenge of maintenance scheme proposals.
·Overseeing the development and delivery of maintenance programmes to ensure network priorities are met.
·Checking of bid schedule of rates against method of measurement to ensure contract compliance.
·Liaison with the Operating Company design teams and attending progress / programme / design meetings.
·Undertake regular route tours to oversee network condition and ensure suitability of maintenance programmes.
·Respond to correspondence, councillor / community council / stakeholder enquiries, letters / emails / calls.
·Review of road traffic orders (TTROs etc).
·Represent Transport Scotland with respect to 3rd party developer requests on the trunk road network.

The Candidate;
You will be a Chartered engineer or equivalent with demonstrable knowledge of technical issues associated with the maintenance, management and construction works relating to a Highways network.
