Overview:
Wilde Recruitment Ltd are working along side Network Rail in order to recruit a HSE Officer to work on a 6 month contract in Milton Keynes.
As a HSE Officer your responsibilities and duties will include:
Operate and maintain a comprehensive reporting system to monitor safety, health & environment performance for designated Route/s (including train and station operators, contractors and projects).

Key Accountabilities

Manage the provision of information and analytical support and maintain records of individual safety, health & environment events, risk assessments and relevant control measures.
Maintain a comprehensive system to monitor overall safety, health & environment performance, inputting to the development of the system taking into account future strategy.
Manage the input of accidents and incidents into the safety management information system and arrange for them to be categorised, investigated, reported and concluded in accordance with legislation and corporate standards.
Act as a focal point for the Routes in the management of recommendations derived from local investigations, tracking and reporting progress in an appropriate format within appropriate timescales, liaising with line managers and external organisations.
Review daily Route Control Logs, advising the relevant Designated Competent Person in each Route/area of all accidents and incidents requiring investigation and manage the provision of support to investigations from the central team.
Liaise with senior managers and external parties in relation to accident and incident reporting and closure of recommendations.
Maintain the process for maintaining, and undertake independent checks on, the integrity of safety management information.
Manage the production of safety, health & environment reports and performance indicators.
Undertake standard searches and reports using specialist knowledge in data extraction from safety management information systems. Develop specific queries to meet requests for special topic and ad-hoc reports.
Responsible for monitoring progress on the implementation of safety, health & environment plans and objectives.

Candidate:
You will be an experienced HSE Officer.
You must have Network Rail experience.
Good understanding of the railway operating environment, ideally through management experience in railway operations, engineering, asset management or safety
Good understanding of railway accident inquiries and investigation procedures
Good understanding of rules, regulations and operating instructions
Good communications skills, written and verbal
Logical thinker, numerate and with good analytical skills
Good working knowledge and experience in use of computer systems for office processes (i.e. word/ spreadsheet/ database)
