Overview:
Wilde Recruitment Ltd are working along side Sellafield Ltd in order to recruit a Lead Design Engineer to work on a rolling 12 month contract based at Risley Warrington.
As A Lead Design Engineer your duties and responsibilities will include:
The Plant Facing Design Office (PFDO) is the organisation within SL that provides professional design support to the Plant Engineering community. The PFDO have a requirement for a Lead Process Engineer to participate in a team that provides a design service to the Infrastructure, Analytical Services and MSSS Operating Units (OUs) primarily, but also potentially other OUs as required, subject to PFDO priorities.
This role is as Lead Process Engineer based in Hinton House, Risley. The role is to deliver Process design solutions in response to problem definitions from the OU system engineering community under the direction of a Process Responsible Engineer (RE). The successful candidate will have control of a specific work list area and will manage this on behalf of the RE.
The role holder will report to a Process Responsible Engineer and will need to be able to fulfil the requirements of SQEP role: SR0754 “Process Designer”.
A key aspect of this role is the ability to quickly self-deliver pragmatic Process design solutions from a brief problem statement with minimal supervision and to be responsive to changing priorities. It is expected that the role holder will have the ability / experience to produce a complete Process design response including for example (but not limited to) Basis of Design design calculations, substantiation documentation when required.
The role involves working collaboratively with the System Engineering community to deliver the best outcome for the business.
For this role the applicant should also have the skills and knowledge to be able to guide other junior designers and be able to check their work.
Travel to the Sellafield site, Cumbria will be required on an occasional basis in order to undertake plant meetings / visits / walk downs
Job Deliverables:

1. “Routine” design support to System Engineering at the request of the respective OU Engineering Manager (OUEM), typically comprising:
Review of Plant Modification Proposals (PMPs), Management of Safety Committee (MSC) papers, technical papers, commissioning test documents, etc.
Processing of Technical Queries (TQs), Concessions and Production Permits, e.g. for plant spares, etc.
Review of Redline Drawings and associated Control Forms and the associated drawing records updates.
Resolution of minor queries and provision of advice and guidance on design and configuration management.
Configuration management tasks associated with non-project PMPs, including drawing updates and design documentation updates.
Input to obsolescence issues and specification of replacement items.

2. Design support to urgent plant breakdown issues at the request of the respective OUEM, typically comprising:
Attendance at Operational Decision-Making Meetings (ODMs)
Engagement with Design Capability design engineers / Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for specialist support.
Preparation of necessary design deliverables in support of plant recovery

3. Preparation of design information
The preparation of design information will typically be limited to “jobs” where physical implementation of the work and the preparation of the associated PMPs, work packs, etc. will be the accountability of the Engineering and Maintenance organisation.

4. Assisting in the preparation of design substantiation in the form of Notes for the Record (NFRs), and Design Assessment Reports (DARs) supporting Structures Systems of Components (SSCs) identified within new or modified safety cases, and to support the substantiation through MSC.
