The Role:
You will be an experinced Contract Mechanical CAD Design Engineer working at a state of the art complex based at Daresbury, Cheshire. 
You will be responsible for delivering innovative engineering design solutions on a number of interesting and complex engineering challenges on collaborative science projects.
Your duties will include the design and optimisation of mechanical components. 
Design and manufacture of vacuum systems down to UHV levels. Experience designing accelerator systems which require high levels of stability and highly toleranced components is desirable.
 Designing cost-effective solutions to help improve safety and reliability.
 Producing manufacturing drawings in accordance with the Projects and Mechanical Engineering group standards.
 Interfaces with outside vendors for component selection, manufacturing, and assembly.
 Performing design calculations on engineering problems.

The Candidate:
Mechanical CAD Engineer with extensive design experience
Good working knowledge of engineering construction drawings.
Extensive experience of mechanical joining and manufacturing techniques. 
Extensive experience in the selection of materials and processes for design solutions.
Experience in vacuum technology.
Experience working on particle accelerator systems
Good working knowledge of ANSYS/Mechanica.
Experience of working within ISO 9001:2008.
Appreciation of COSHH systems.
Experience in heat transfer analysis and cooling solutions.
Experience in mechanism design.
Experience in mechanical design of optical systems.
Experience in motion control systems.
Experience with compressed air systems.
Experience in pressurised systems. 
Experience in magnet technology.
