Overview:
Wilde Recruitment Ltd are working along side NDA to recruit a Mechanical Designer to work on a 12 month contract at Warrington.
As a Mechanical Designer your responsibilities and duties will include:
The Plant Facing Design Office (PFDO) is the organisation within SL that provides professional engineering support to the System Engineering community.

The PFDO have a requirement for a Mechanical / Piping Senior Designer to provide a design service predominantly to the HLWP, HALES, E&EP and Remediation OUs within the Remediation and Waste Management (R&WM) directorate.

This role will involve developing mechanical design solutions in response to problem definitions from the OU system engineering community.
The problems that are likely to occur will be varied for plant and equipment on several Sellafield plants dealing with High Active, Medium Active and Low Active waste streams that process, compact, encapsulate, vitrify or package waste.

The equipment or machinery could be used within a shielded cell being bespoke and designed for remote handling or remote operation in hazardous areas, or out cell where the equipment is more likely to be of a conventional nature for mechanical handling material in man accessible areas.
The role involves undertaking design work, developing Inventor 3D Models for concepts and detail design, as well as assisting in the preparation of Design Substantiation for designs and to support Safety Cases.
Other tasks carried out by PFDO include the replacement or redesigning of piping systems, as such a level of understanding of SL Piping specifications, piping isometrics and general piping systems as installed on the Sellafield is preferred, though this is secondary to the more general mechanical design skills required.
For this role the applicant should also have the skills and knowledge to be able to lead other junior designers and be able to check their work.
