Overview:
Wilde Recruitment Ltd are working along side Babcock Naval Marine in order to recruit 4 Mechanical Fitters to work on 6month contracts based in Plymouth PL2.
As a Mechanical Fitter your work will involve:
Mechanical Fitter on Devon Sampson (A Floating Crane)
The primary tasks would be to carryout planned and preventative maintenance on diesel generators (SCANIA) , deck equipment, structures, fire and safety equipment, services and rigid inflatable boat and outboard engine.
The candidate would be responsible for:
Daily running of the vessel whilst alongside a tidal berth.
This to include the safety of visitors, contractors and Babcock staff conducting works on board.
Monitoring Berthing ropes and brows whilst alongside, and having the knowledge to adjust where necessary.
Monitor fire panel and carry out weekly inspections.
Carry out daily rounds and low level maintenance of the vessel to ensure its operational readiness at all times.
Maintain fuel and fresh water status keeping tanks in line with vessel ballast status.
Manage waste leaving the vessel in accordance with MCA.
Control oily water and hazardous fluid disposal in accordance with MCA.
Control all tooling and equipment, ensuring calibration recalls are completed.
Maintain vessel firefighting capability this to include fire equipment and PPE.
This role is a day work position with occasional overtime. 

Candidate:
Mechanical Engineer (Marine).
STCW Basic training in Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting.
STCW Personnel survival techniques.
STCW Elementary First Aid.
VHF/SRC Radio Operator.
Seafaring medical certificate.
The ideal candidate would have extensive experience working with diesel engines as well as having worked in a Marine Engineering Environment.
