Overview:
Wilde Recruitment Ltd are working along side Babcock Naval Marine in order to recruit a Mechanical Project Engineer to work on a 12month contract at Devonport.
as a Mechanical Project engineer your duties and responsibilities will include:

In order to deliver the MoD’s submarine and warship programmes, a significant programme of infrastructure investment will be required on the Devonport site. A new ‘Major Infrastructure Projects’ (MIP) Business Unit is being established to support this. 

One of the key scope elements within MIP is re-establishing a defuel capability for out of service submarines. This work comprises of a number of interrelated projects, one of which is the Submarine Defuel Delivery Project (SDDP). The scope of SDDP comprises of the provision of: a 14 Dock Reactor Access House (RAH), a suite of defuelling tools & equipment, a Test & Training Rig (TTR), dockside HVAC and services and a safety justification for the facilities’ use.

The MoD has set a target completion date for the project of 2023 and the SDDP team is endeavouring to realise this challenging aspiration.
The primary purpose of the Senior Project Engineer (which is classed as an introductory level Project Management post) is to assist the project / package manager in the delivery of project scope. This will include the likes of the following;

Support to planning and scheduling of project activities.
Management and delivery of distinct controllable tasks / activities.
Production and update of project supporting specifications and documentation.
Contribute to the production and the upkeep of the project reporting tools.
Be able to contribute to the development of a project risk and opportunity plan.
Management / liaison with sub-contractors in support of delivery of contracted works, ensuring time, cost and quality requirements are met.
Act as the Technical Representative for discrete on-site works.
The candidate must have;
Demonstrable experience and knowledge of engineering works, e.g. Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC), mechanical handling, mechanical or electrical systems / services.
Proven experience working in a project environment.
Have effective communication, writing and presentation skills.
The candidate will preferably have
Experience of procurement and material control systems and processes.

Preferentially, but not mandatory, the candidate will have a HNC/ONC or equivalent in an engineering related discipline, with 5 years relevant project experience.

A range of Babcock specific courses will be required, such as the following;
Site Induction.
Fire Safety.
Diversity.
Anti-bribery.
Data Protection.
Management of Subcontractors.
