Nuclear QA Engineer: Contract, Warrington, Duration: at least 12-months, Rate: £40-50p/h Ltd
KEY Skills: Quality Assurance, Nuclear Safety, Mechanical Engineering, CQI, IRCA Lead Auditor, Nuclear, Decommissioning, Sellafield

The Project:

Our client, Balfour Beatty, is part of the Box Encapsulation Plant (BEP) Delivery Team, an unincorporated joint-venture of Wood Group, Jacobs and Balfour Beatty.
The framework contract for the project is being delivered as an integral part of the Magnox Swarf Storage Silo (MSSS) programme for Sellafield Ltd; tackling the clean-up of one of the most hazardous legacy facilities on the Sellafield site.
When complete, BEP will deliver the capability to treat nuclear waste recovered from MSSS, immobilise it and prepare it for storage. In addition, the BEP may also process waste recovered during the decommissioning of other Sellafield facilities including the First-Generation Magnox Storage Pond (FGMSP) and the Pile Fuel Storage Pond (PFSP).

Duties will involve:
Reporting to the Construction Quality Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the Integrated Management System maintenance and upkeep activities, particularly with regard to Construction & Commissioning, to reflect continuous improvement and learning from experience.
Understanding and implementing the processes necessary to provide the appropriate quality support to construction and commissioning activities on site.
Ensuring the Quality standards of the BEP Project are consistently met, raising Performance Improvement notices (NCR’s) where appropriate and close out any actions in a timely manner.

The role is based out of the client’s Warrington office, with some periodic travel to the Sellafield site.

The Candidate:
Due to the critical nature of the BEP project, the successful candidate must be a member of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) and an IRCO accredited Lead Auditor.
You’ll have at least five years’ experience of working within a highly regulated environment – ideally within a nuclear setting including the relevant nuclear safety training.
A background in (or with significant exposure to) mechanical handling/engineering would be a distinct advantage.
Must be capable of passing the Sellafield BPSS security check.

We are an Equal Opportunities Employer and we positively welcome applications from all candidates regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.
