Planning Engineer (Rail) – 6mth Contract – c£350.0/ltd - Kent 
KEY Skills: Planning, Primavera P6, HV Power


The Role:
Planning Engineer required with experience of working on High Voltage power projects to join the construction team engaged on the €219 million ElecLink project to install an HVDC interconnector through the Channel Tunnel. 
To produce, agree, communicate, monitor and maintain the production of projects AC programme to the required process and procedures for the project.
The Project includes the installation of the HVDC interconnector and involves the laying of two 50km cables through the tunnel and connecting them to converter stations in Northern France and Kent. 

Duties will include:
Manage, monitor and review the planning function for the AC team. 
Efficiently manage the production and maintenance of the programme for the AC works. 
Ensure that as early as possible that the project lead and their team are involved in programme reviews and are contributing to the programme production and maintenance during the project. 
Ensure that detailed programme handovers to the nominated work delivery teams take place and that each handover is recorded. 
Ensure that all programmes are fully integrated with design, procurement, construction, handover & closeout activities etc and that all key dates and milestones are included and understood. 
Conduct reviews of the programme to ensure that the scope of work is fully understood and included in the daily, weekly and 4 weekly look a-heads. 
All programmes are produced to the requirements of the BB Rail Planning Process and Procedures. 
Maintain regular contact and communication with those involved in the AC team to ensure the programme status is known and that the programme is up to date with any authorised change and the effect of the change is known to those involved with the works. 
Effectively advise and communicate to the implementation team logic changes and amendments 
Lead the production of process maps where required. 
Provide commercial (change) advice and risk management advice to the team. 
Work with the construction leads to ensure there is a sufficiently detailed programme for delivery of works on time and that these are regularly reviewed against progress. 
Take responsibility for ensuring that the programmes are reviewed and communicated. 
Provide coaching and support to Engineers involved in short term planning. 

The Candidate: 
You will be an experienced Planning Engineer; qualified to degree or HND level in a relevant discipline.
Prior experience gained on HV power projects is essential. 
You will have substantial site experience of large and complex construction and infrastructure projects.
Sound planning and organising skills and computer literacy with Word, Excel, MS Project and Primavera P6 required.
