The Project:
Help us to create the naval base and dockyard of the future, supporting the Royal Navy’s current surface and submarine fleets and ready to receive the next generation of naval platforms.

For more than three hundred years, engineers have been shaping the dockyard to ensure it supports the fleet and protects the nation. We need you to help continue this tradition, transforming, sustaining and improving Devonport to meet the demands of the Royal Navy for the next hundred years. 
Comprising of 14 dry docks, four miles of waterfront and 25 tidal berths, Devonport is the base for numerous surface vessels as well as the base and refit centre for the Trafalgar-class nuclear-powered submarines. Devonport has also recently been selected as the base port for the Navy’s new Type 26 frigates and will become the maintenance centre for the future submarine programme, including Astute and Dreadnought class. 

Position/Duties:
Lead Principal Engineer for Mechanical Systems, you will be responsible for ensuring all mechanical and radiological systems are designed against a clear statement of compliance with defined requirements, including demonstration that the design meets relevant Health Safety & Environmental and specified Nuclear Safety requirements.
The indicative value of the mechanical systems package is in the order of £7.5M.
Lead and manage one or more technical design packages.
Ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of operations.
Plan for effective project implementation.
Ensuring effective Quality Management Arrangements.
Ensure that staff and contractors are familiar with the hazards and risks associated with the work undertaken.

The Candidate:
You will be a highly qualified engineer with at least 10+years experience.
You will have excellent communication skills both written and oral.
You will have worked in a naval/defence organisation previously.
