The Role:
Our client, Transport Scotland, is looking for veteran Highways Project Managers to join their Transport Scotland Network Maintenance Team; responsible for overseeing operating company performance in managing the safe operation and maintenance of the trunk road network whilst dealing with political and community matters on behalf of Scottish Ministers.

Duties will involve:
Programme management and contract compliance of the annual routine and cyclic maintenance programme, relevant to trunk road network area assigned;
Overseeing development and delivery of maintenance programmes to ensure network priorities are met;
Working with the Performance Audit Group and colleagues across Transport Scotland, seeking advice where necessary;
Reviewing impacts of roadworks on road users and reviewing communication strategies to ensure effective communication with road users and stakeholders, as well as reviewing TTROs;
Undertaking regular route tours to oversee network condition and ensure suitability of maintenance programmes.

The Candidate: 
You will have begun your career as a highways engineer and subsequently gained your engineering chartership (such as CIHT), before making the move in to programme/project management. 
You’ll possess demonstrable and extensive knowledge of technical issues associated with the maintenance, management and construction works relating to a roads network.
Ideally have a recognised project management qualification such as APM, and demonstrable experience of related project and programme management.
