Senior Health & Safety Advisor: 12 Months+ Contract; Sellafield; Rate: c£60.0/hour Umbrella

The Project/ Role:
Our client, Balfour Beatty, is part of the Box Encapsulation Plant (BEP) Delivery Team, an unincorporated joint-venture of Wood Group, Jacobs and Balfour Beatty.
The framework contract for the project is being delivered as an integral part of the Magnox Swarf Storage Silo (MSSS) programme for Sellafield Ltd; tackling the clean-up of one of the most hazardous legacy facilities on the Sellafield site.
When complete, BEP will deliver the capability to treat nuclear waste recovered from MSSS, immobilise it and prepare it for storage. In addition, the BEP may also process waste recovered during the decommissioning of other Sellafield facilities including the First-Generation Magnox Storage Pond (FGMSP) and the Pile Fuel Storage Pond (PFSP).

Duties will involve:
Promoting the implementation of the Project Safety Management System process and procedures and the arrangements detailed within the Project HSE Plan(s). 
Providing advice, support and assistance to all project personnel to enable them to discharge their health and safety roles and responsibilities. 
Developing and delivering suitable safety training programmes for all project personnel (including routine project inductions, toolbox talks and topic specific presentations). 
Assisting HSE Manager and Supervisory staff in undertaking project related risk assessments in line with project specifics procedures. 
Undertaking risk assessment reviews to ensure that risk assessments are suitable and sufficient for the tasks to be undertaken. 
Undertaking Health and Safety compliance evaluations, inspections and audits at prescribed intervals – record outputs and liaise with site management to ensure actions are completed.

The Candidate: 
Ideally, you’ll have strong, recent experience within the nuclear sector, or another highly-regulated industry.
In addition, professional HSE accreditation such as IOSH / NEBOSH, along with current and in-depth knowledge of construction health and safety legislation (such as ISO 45001) is required.
