Senior Manufacturing Engineer - LONG term contract - £35/hr Automotive

The Role:
You will be working as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer which will also include some Cost Estimating.
Much of your role will be working closely with designers on manufacturing solutions and estimating component costs to achieve engine BOM cost targets. 

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer you will have experience of:
Design for manufacture and assembly support, providing guidelines (written and verbal) on how to machine components (particularly 5C components) and guidelines on engine assembly and testing. Ensuring that design have a method to manufacture and assemble in line with lean manufacturing methods and highlighting areas that could be improved to ease machining or assembly, reduce costs and or improve quality.
You will be able to provide cost estimation for engine assembly components, guideline on total engine cost, facility costs and how to reduce cost.
Support cost reduction programs by assessing client engines for high cost components or methods and recommending improvements.
Specify equipment and processes including estimation of labour contents for engine components for client projects.
Maintaining and engine component cost database and developing cost estimation techniques and methods.

The Candidate:
A background in automotive prototype and production manufacturing and assembly types and facilities and a knowledge of component/system cost drivers is required. 
You will be an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with Automotive / Vehicle / Powertrain experience.
You willl have experience / knowledge of:
Engine manufacture and assembly experience (preferably high volume automotive)
Engine component and facility cost estimating experience
Experience of working in quality focussed environment, familiar with APQP, DFMEAs, PPAP etc.
Lean manufacturing methods
