Senior Mechanical Engineer

Senior Mechanical Engineer; 6mth plus contract, Tidal/flood risk management across London and the Thames Estuary.

The Role: 
As Senior Mechanical Engineer; you will be involved on a range of projects including; Pump station and floodgate refurbishments and replacements. 

Responsibilities as a Senior Mechanical Engineer will include: 
Taking the lead and responsibility for the overall coordination and production of multi-disciplinary appraisals and designs
Undertakings the appraisal of flood risk management solutions and reports to secure funding for projects
Management of a team of specialists throughout delivery 
Preparing and supporting mechanical tender/ outline/ detailed design solutions in accordance with programme and budget constraints.
Preparing, reviewing and checking necessary calculations and design.
Liaison with internal and external clients to develop relationships across the business and cooperation with engineers and designers across other disciplines.
Mentoring and development of team engineers and technicians. 
The role is based in London SW1 but will require travel to sites around London and the Thames Estuary.

The Candidate: 
You will be a Senior Mechanical Engineer educated to degree level and Chartered with a relevant Institution (ICE or CIWEM) 
Your experience will include: 
Experience and knowledge of the UK flood risk management industry with experience in the design of water retaining or control gate structures.
Comprehensive technical appraisal and design knowledge. 
Experienced at being client focused and able to build long term relationships.
Proven experience of coordination and delivery of projects. 
You will have excellent written and oral communication skills. 

Project overview:  
TEAM2100 is the Environment Agency’s 10-year programme to refurbish and replace tidal flood defences in London and the Thames estuary. 
TEAM2100 will improve tidal flood defences in London, Kent and Essex from 2015 to 2025.
