Overview:
Wilde Recruitment Ltd are working along side Babcock Naval Marine in order to recruit a Senior Mechanical / Structural Engineer to work on a long term contract.
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer your duties and responsibilities will include:
The Senior Engineer will act as the design house’s Technical Authority for medium complexity tasks (responsible for their own discipline’s outputs). To this end, they are responsible for scope definition, solution development, solution substantiation and the technical quality of the final deliverable that is submitted to client.

Key Result Areas
Responsible for the compile, check or approval of calculations that underpin marine structures; seats (hard mounted subject to shock loadings, shock mounted arrangements, etc), supports, cradles, frameworks, lifting arrangements, etc.
Responsible for ensuring that design intent is successfully communicated on structural drawings sets.
Responsible for the compile, check or approval of concept design studies.
Responsible for discussing, agreeing and documenting unambiguous definitions of work scope in negotiation with client and numerous stakeholders.
Responsible for chairing design reviews and securing client buy-in at all stages of the design lifecycle / development.

Knowledge, Experience and Skill
The post holder is required to hold a BEng or an equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Structural Engineering / Naval Architecture;
Desirable - The post holder will preferably be chartered or working towards chartership;
Must have experience working with shock loadings and industry codes / standards (Shock Map, the design of shock mounted arrangements, LR Naval Rules, etc);

Must have a thorough knowledge of static structural assessment techniques, including hand calculations and STAAD assessments in the marine domain;

Must have experience checking and approving calculations;

Must be experienced in the review of structural drawing sets and be able to confidently steer concept proposals;

Desirable – Experience in structural design on both steel and GRP ships to MoD and industry codes / standards;
Desirable – Experience working in a Design Services environment, the development of Installation Solutions, etc.
