The Role:
Senior Project manager to undertake the management of small to medium sized projects from scoping, through to delivery / commissioning and hand over to Business As Usual. These projects will vary in cost from £50k to several million and you will be responsible for a portfolio of activity, not just a single implementation. In addition, you will have at least one continuous improvement project to improve processes and procedures, reporting, risk and issue management.

Main Duties:
Managing a project from inception through to successful delivery.
Operating broadly independently, but as part of a supporting team.
Preparing and gaining approval for business cases.
Preparing and agreeing scopes for multiple integrated packages to deliver the overall project.
Setting procurement strategies, including use of frameworks or OJEU.
Documenting requirements and evaluation models for ITTs (Information to tenders) or other procurement approach.
Establishing project and programme plans across multiple suppliers and stakeholders.
Tracking delivery against that plan; dealing with regular changes to time and cost, ensuring no impact to the overall goal.
Escalating and responding to escalations from the business and the supplier base.
Tracking project spend and producing regular forecasts for senior managers.
Managing other staff as part of the project, ensuring they can deliver in line with the goal 

BCP Tracking:
• Taking an agreed change and tracking it to implementation
• Communicating with the site Facilities Management provider in order to monitor progress; keeping business owners updated about progress
• Managing issues relating to the work (such as lack of access to a building, or a clash in priority for resource) and communicating appropriately
• Tracking financial spend against change; confirming the change has completed successfully

You will also be dealing with:
• The cost evaluation and approval of changes

The Candidate: 
You will be an experienced technical project manager. A demonstrable track record at least 5 years of successful delivery on construction and engineering projects with a commission values of £5M plus is essential.
In addition, you will have a detailed understanding of science or construction programmes and projects and financial management and of customer facing issues.
You will have experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams.
You will be a member of a PM or construction professional institute (APM; MSP: Prince2)
You will have an understanding of financial principles around Government accounting e.g. Capex, Opex, Accruals etc.
Experience or a background in mechanical or electrical engineering services is desirable.
