3 Month Contract for a Ship Propulsion Project Engineer, £436 / day, based with the MOD Rosyth with some travel to Portsmouth and Bristol.

The Role:
To cover a capability gap created by the need to manage actions arising from the independent review of power & propulsion on QEC class aircraft carrier.
The review highlighted a number of shortcomings in the design of previous Integrated Electric Propulsion (IEP) platform together with inadequacies in how those shortcomings were managed as part of the process of the platform’s “entry into service” process.
Manage interface with the Propulsion & Manoeuvring Naval Authority to ensure the safety certification is coherent with progressive implementation of capability.

The Candidate:
Experience with ship propulsion systems.
Safety and environmental management; working with stakeholders and regulated bodies to achieve policy / standards and acceptance compliance associated with HV and power electronic aspects.
Review technical reports and provide specialist HV and power electronic “customer” input.
Review technical data in formal test forms and other records to provide HV and power electronic comments on acceptability.
Witness HV and power electronic input, as required, for technical investigations on behalf of MoD client.
Liaise with NCHQ and ship staff to ensure that phased release of capability is understood, endorsed and implemented.
