Sustainability Engineer - Manchester - Staff - £25-£40,000neg + Bens

The Role:
Joining our Manchester Sustainability team, you will have the opportunity to be involved in both general sustainability consultancy and energy consultancy work for built environment projects across a range of sectors, including education, culture, sport, scientific, mixed-use and residential.

This is a fantastic opportunity to operate in a truly diverse role with fantastic commercial and technical development prospects.
You will be expected to lead projects and help manage existing and new client relationships across our portfolio of clients, including universities, developers, architects & local authorities.

Your duties:
Specific responsibilities:
Advise clients, engineers and architects on sustainable measures, technologies and holistic solutions (through design, specification and construction techniques) for general construction, building and masterplan projects from a technical and economic perspective.
Undertake assessments of sustainability and environmental impact, using a range of measures, including LEED, BREEAM, WELL Standard, Home Quality Mark etc.
Prepare reports on sustainability and building physics to accompany Planning Applications as well as design and construction stage reports.
Prepare or assist with technical and financial proposals for new work including fee proposals and scopes of work.
Be active in the Manchester sustainability market, attending seminars and events of interest.
Direct liaison with clients, engineers and architects;
Requesting input from the other members of sustainability group as required
Prepare and take responsibility for concept and preliminary engineering solutions for detail design.
Prepare technical specifications.
Manage workload of more junior consultants and graduates.
Set up and manage job/project administrative systems, including planning and monitoring job resourcing/expenditure (adjusting these as necessary) and invoicing.
Ensure senior staff are kept informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and the objectives of the client are achieved.

The Candidate:
Ideally a background in mechanical building services engineering or energy consultancy;
Proven skills and experience of sustainability appraisal of projects
Experience of low carbon technology design and building energy assessments
Be working towards chartership with a relevant institution (e.g. IMechE, CIBSE, IoP);

Further desirable skills include;
Knowledge of prior experience of technical and economic appraisal of low carbon technologies;
Knowledge or prior experience in smart grid technologies and strategies.
Knowledge or prior experience in heat network design.
Experience in undertaking post-occupancy evaluations of buildings.
Qualified as a CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant.
Prior experience in EnergyPro, sustainability framework development & building energy assessments.
Knowledge in translating BIM models to analysis software packages.
