Technical Director Environmental – London working for leading international consultancy

The Role:
Technical Director, Environmental; Reporting to the Business Director for Environment, you will be accountable for the control, coordination and completion of assigned tasks and projects within the Business Unit or project team.
You will be responsible for leading and managing the delivery of projects to meet time, budgetary and QHSE targets, managing all aspects of the client relationship so that delivery exceeds client expectations.  You will provide both direction and technical advice, leading by example, where appropriate, and promoting both the regional and global culture of the business. You will also be responsible for supporting the commercial performance of the Environmental team, and in the development of new work streams.

Responsibilities of this role include:
Leading/managing projects (including budgets and cashflow) involving multidisciplinary technical teams, which may include sub-consultants
Taking a leading role in project meetings and provide advice to clients and stakeholders, often as the principal representative to the client
Identifying and developing new business opportunities and managing bid production
Taking responsibility for technical quality / approval of project deliverables
Overseeing the execution of various technical studies, surveys and investigations; the analysis of survey results of field surveys; the production of
reports, designs,  advice notes, strategies and other planning support documents
Providing advice on technical issues, at an in-depth level within own area of expertise, but also on a broad range of topics
Liaising with a wide range of stakeholders, regulators, statutory authorities and interest groups
Attending Public Consultation/engagement events
Managing performance of assigned team members and providing training at staff meetings and to smaller groups of staff
Managing budgets and production of bids
Supporting the Business Director for Environment on the overall commercial performance of the Environmental team
Supporting the Business Director for Environment on the development of new work streams and client relationships 

The Client:
A leading consultancy, in the delivery of: design, consultancy, engineering and project management services.
The environmental practice in the UK comprises over 250 staff and is presently working on some of the largest civil engineering infrastructure, urban regeneration and transport projects in the UK. They provide a number of sub-disciplines including ecology, landscape architecture, air quality, acoustics, sustainability and geosciences and work closely with our infrastructure and buildings teams.  The role will involve the management and coordination of expertise across the range of technical services provided to development clients.

This vacancy is based in the clients London office, although some flexibility on location would be possible for the right candidate.  The role will be focussed on multidisciplinary design/project management of land development schemes in the public and private sectors.   You will work alongside the Environmental Assessment Team, which undertakes a broad range of projects, including environmental impact assessments, strategic environmental assessments, transport assessment and design, sustainability and energy assessment, construction management and other environmental advice, together with our infrastructure and engineering teams. 

The Candidate:
You will be a Project Director/Technical in a Environmental Consultancy Business.
You will have an excellent professional profile and existing relationships with clients and stakeholders, with demonstrable experience of using this and your technical knowledge to identify and realise new client opportunities and to provide technical input into the bidding process.  
You will hold a relevant Degree
Relevant Professional Membership
Chartered status
