Transport Planning Engineer - Medway - Contract 12months+ Rate £35-£50/hr NEG

Wilde Recruitment are working alongside a national consultancy and the local council in order to recruit a Transport Planning Engineer to work on a contract basis, initially for 12months+ based at Medway (South East).
As a Transport Planning Engineer:
The post holder will assess the highway and transport aspects of new development proposals and planning applications and provide expert written and verbal advice to the Council’s Planning Service and Members of the Planning Committee, ensuring this work is undertaken in accordance with service requirements and the policies of the Council.
The post holder will work to secure high-quality, sustainable developments with mitigation of wider impacts where appropriate.
The post holder will be required to input in to all stages of the planning process, including pre-application discussion, planning appeals, and the discharge of transport-related planning conditions, Section 106 obligations, and post-determination enquiries including Freedom of Information requests.
The post holder will also ensure a smooth transition from planning approval to the formation of Section 38/278 agreements (undertaken by others).
The post holder will undertake an intelligent client role in managing specialist consultants developing and maintaining the Council’s strategic transport model and facilitating its use internally to support the Council’s transport planning function, and by third parties external to the organisation.
Candidate:
You will be an experience Transport Planning Engineer.
Ideally qualified HND / Degree level.
You will have knowledge of national transport and highway policy, guidance and frameworks, together with relevant legal and financial constraints.
Experience of assessing the transport aspects of planning applications and the preparation and presentation of reports.
Knowledge of how transport modelling is used to evaluate development options, Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
Knowledge of highway design criteria and highway adoption process.
